       擁有福爾摩沙之稱的台灣寶島，四面環海的環境造就風景宜人的島國風情，依山傍海的港都基隆更是深受島國地形的影響：海風徐徐沿著山地與丘陵地緩緩吹入、夜市美食香氣撲鼻而來，慵懶閒逸的氛圍瀰漫整座城市，吸引了許多城市遊子來此度假放鬆，暫時遠離都市喧囂。正因為基隆如此得天獨厚的地理位置與絕佳的人為環境，一年多前吸引了身為台北人的業主來此購屋，當作私人度假的秘密基地。

       從基隆火車站往北海岸的方向前進，經過和平島尚未抵達八斗子的路上，知名的觀光景點碧砂漁港首先映入眼前，漁港人聲鼎沸的氛圍、遠方大船軍艦進出基隆港灣的氣勢，度假小屋就座落於中正路的對面山腳邊。有別於台北的盆地地形，基隆房子大多順著山坡地形走向，傾斜的角度造就每棟房子門前的一片獨特視野，設計師鄭士傑藉環境的優勢，將景外之景引入室內，營造一間融入地景環境的世外桃源。

       一路走來始終以自然環境作為發想的鄭士傑，自然中帶點雅致的設計似乎已成為他的個人招牌風格，而此次基隆的案子也不例外。原為海砂屋的二樓老舊房舍，殘破的屋況經過一年的重新打造、地板加入多層防潮措施，室內牆壁全數打掉，引自然光入內，將空間的呼吸感大幅調升。從一樓入口，爬樓梯來到二樓，首先發現樓梯欄杆寬窄錯落的設計，主要顧慮到業主家中有小孩，故在設計中巧妙加入安全措施，另一方面則是希望在不增加預算的情況下，製造變化。

       來到二樓後，牆壁上的畫為設計師的精心安排，在優雅簡潔的室內增添一點色彩，也帶入了鮮活的氣味。相較於一般台灣住家環境習慣將空間填滿，設計師大膽的在室內的牆上，開出一道細長窗戶將戶外光線引入，牆上光線多角度的投影，無意間營造出美術館、博物館的俐落空間感。室內挑高兩米九加上開放式的空間，營造出愜意放鬆的生活感，也巧妙地將港灣吞吐船隻的容納空間感帶入室內。室內設計的重心在於地板，以水、海洋為發想概念，從床頭一路延伸至客廳，中間的書櫃當成整個空間的小區隔，設計師首次嘗試在地板上增加曲線的做法，水滴般的設計線條延伸在柚木地板上，再搭配上一旁水泥粉光的類清水模地面，不同材質的搭配，意外讓人們在室內體感溫度自動調節成春秋宜人氣候。

       海港的宜人氛圍從室內大片落地窗一路延伸至浴室，看似霧茫茫的浴室其實是設計師的另一獨特設計手法，利用外觀看似冰塊的玻璃磚，強調整體室內的穿透性；浴室地板一高一低的設計利於水流排通；鏡面的部分做了多塊玻璃的拼接，然後每一塊鏡子邊的倒斜角排列，堆疊出一幅有如菱形馬賽克般的畫面。

        同樣細膩的設計手法也可見於客廳中央的櫃子，上頭的材質選用彩霞玻璃，又稱藝術玻璃，當光打下去，它的波紋映照在第二層的白色烤漆上方，彷如將海浪帶進室內，又多了一層海邊的語彙。設計師鄭士傑對於使用異材質結合的敏銳度，巧妙地將它使用在設計上，營造出空間或物品外觀衝擊，卻意外協調的觀感，多了層次，多了趣味，在堆疊當中，讓氣氛在不知不覺中轉換。除此之外，浴室內的圓弧形浴缸，利用弧線營造出空間的流動感，也恰巧呼應外頭的水滴地板以及天花板上的木板肌理，讓空間自動萃取出時間流動的痕跡。

        圓是日常生活空間較不常見的曲線，設計師巧妙利用圓的特性，使用在不管是商業空間還是住家，都增加流動與舒適的感覺。在大多人類社會充斥長寬高、xyz軸的空間裡，有時多了一個小小的轉彎，抑或一個圓軸，都會重新調整我們對空間的既有印象，這也是設計師致力突破的現象，而這樣獨特語彙的設計也可見於設計師其他的空間案內。

Keelung is a major port city situated in the northeastern part of Taiwan. The city is separated from its neighboring county by mountains in the east, west and south. The northern part of the city faces the ocean and is a great deep water harbor since early times.

It is the ideality of everything finite within Keelung that attracts the owner of "Casa in Keelung" to locate her private villa here. Taking a stroll in Keelung, one would be immersed in the refreshing scent of sea breeze and the appetizing smell of many dainty seafood dishes coming from the night market. And there's nothing more liberating than taking a weekend trip away from the hustle and bustle of Taipei City to Keelung.

The city is basically built on slope, which ensures "Casa in Keelung" to have a surrounding balcony with perfect sea and mountain view. However, the house was originally a two-story fixer-upper that had been severely worn down by humidity. The reconstruction took almost a year.

Bright colored paintings hung on the entrance wall liven the room up nicely and make it more welcoming. The decoration style is neat and clean, which kindles an atmosphere of stylish simplicity. A long, thin window enables the sun to stream in, producing dancing shadows on the wall. Inspired by the capacious Keelung Harbor, the room has a 2.9-meter high ceiling, which makes the house visually bigger and brighter. The originality can also be found in the floor design. As an attempt to weave the image of ocean into the room, water-drop pattern was applied to the teak floor. The pattern extends from bedroom to living room, with a bookcase placed in between as partition. The bold floor combination of the patterned teak and the finishing-cement architectural-concrete creates a unique design aesthetics.

Curve line is a versatile, simple and effective graphic element that is consistently used in the design. It is applied to the teak floor and the selection of furniture. Colors and Materials are chosen to directly implement the dominant element. Transparency for instance, implies clarity and openness, which along with the round shapes, creates an image of sea. Through the use of distinctive modern glass block wall partitions, a light open space is created while setting visual separations between rooms. Similar design can be spotted from the bookcase placed between the bedroom and the living room. The piece of art glass stood above the white baking varnish top again recalls the image of ocean as light penetrates the glass. The combination of different materials in one scene may seem conflicting, but it could also become harmony when well orchestrated.

Curve is seldom seen in conventional Taiwanese interior design. Although we do not encourage a certain design pattern, we believe the inventive and sophisticated application of curves would always enhance a pleasant view. Each case has its own uniqueness, and we would always make sure we are on the right track to finding the best solution to surface the true nature of the space.
